“I’m over 60, and I thought I had my future figured out… I was wrong.”

I’m over 60!

And like many people at this stage of life, I thought I had my future more or less figured out.

I had spent over 20 years working for myself in IT. I understood computers, systems, and how technology evolves. I had built a career solving technical problems and helping other people navigate the digital world.

Retirement, or at least slowing down, felt like the natural next step.

But something unexpected happened.

The Moment Everything Changed

Like many people, I began to hear more and more about Artificial Intelligence.

At first, I didn’t think much of it, another tech trend, I thought, I’ve seen plenty come and go.

However, I then began exploring tools like ChatGPT, and that’s when everything changed.

This wasn’t just another piece of software; this was different.

A New Kind of Technology

What struck me wasn’t just what AI could do… with AI, it was how accessible it had become.

You didn’t need to be a programmer; you didn’t need years of training, all you needed was the ability to ask the right questions.

And that’s when it hit me: Most people aren’t struggling because AI is complicated.

They’re struggling because they don’t know how to use it properly.

A Realisation About the Future

I began thinking about the next generation. Kids growing up today are surrounded by technology, but that doesn’t mean they truly understand how to use it.

In fact, many people — adults included — are only scratching the surface.

And yet, AI is going to play a huge role in:

  • education
  • business
  • creativity
  • everyday life

So I asked myself a simple question:

What if I could help make this easier for them to understand?

Starting Again — With a New Purpose

Instead of slowing down, I decided to start something new.

I created a YouTube channel called Learning With Chip

Please click on the link below to find out more:

The idea is simple:

Start from the beginning, break down technology and computers into clear, simple lessons that anyone can understand — especially beginners and young learners.

No complicated jargon.

No overwhelming explanations.

Just practical, useful knowledge.

What the future brings

Why This Matters Far More Now

We’re entering a new world where not only knowing how to use a computer is essential, but especially how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving at a dramatic pace, as the new Microsoft operating systems now have in-built tools like Co-Pilot, and its second cousin on the web, ChatGPT, as they are becoming just as important as knowing how to use the internet.

AI can not only give you amazing results, but it can be a part of your everyday life, especially if you need help and guidance on a particular matter, because the results that AI can come back to you with, can determine how you run your business, especially at the speed as to the answers you get, because within seconds you ask yourself why didn’t I think of that?

But here’s the truth:

Most people are using AI at a very basic level.

They type a quick question…

Get an average answer…

And assume that’s all it can do.

What they don’t realise is that the quality of the result depends on the quality of the instructions, or in today’s world, the quality of the prompts you give to AI.

The Hidden Skill Nobody Talks About!

There’s a skill that is quickly becoming valuable:

Knowing how to write better prompts, this is something I’ve been exploring deeply, and once you understand it, everything changes.

You get:

  • clearer answers
  • better results
  • more useful outputs
  • less frustration

It’s like learning how to “speak the language” of AI.

Building Something to Help Others

As part of this journey, I started creating simple resources to help beginners.

One of the first things I designed was a basic ChatGPT prompt guide, nothing complicated, just a structured way to help people ask better questions and get better results, because for many people, ChatGPT feels a bit… underwhelming.

They try it once or twice, ask a few questions, get a generic answer, and walk away thinking, “It’s not that good.” But here’s the truth: Most people don’t get great results from ChatGPT, not because the tool is limited, but because the instructions they give it are vague!!, and once you understand that… AI becomes far more powerful.

A Simple Place to Start

If you’re curious about AI and unsure where to begin, start simple.

Learn how to ask better questions with the right prompts!

. Experiment.

. Stay curious.

And if you’d like a starting point, I designed a FREE beginner-friendly ChatGPT prompt guide that shows you exactly how to improve your results.

If you’re curious and want a simple place to start, I’ve put together a short, beginner-friendly guide you can explore here:

It’s designed to be simple, practical, and easy to use.

It’s Never Too Late to Learn Something New

If there’s one thing I’ve realised, it’s this:

It doesn’t matter whether you’re 16 or over 60; technology doesn’t belong to one generation.

It belongs to anyone willing to learn, and right now, we’re at the beginning of something big.

Final Thoughts

i'm over 60, and i thought i had my future figured out… i was wrong.

I thought I was heading towards slowing down.

Instead, I’ve found a completely new direction — one that I never expected, but one that feels more relevant now than ever before.

Discovering tools like ChatGPT didn’t just introduce me to new technology — it opened my eyes to a new way of thinking, learning, and creating.

And more importantly, it showed me that it’s never too late to adapt, grow, and start something meaningful.

Because the future isn’t just being built by the next generation…

It’s being shaped by anyone willing to understand it.

If I can take everything I’ve learned over the past 20 years and use it to help others — especially young learners — feel more confident about technology, then this next chapter might be the most important one yet.

We are only just beginning to see what AI can do.

And the real opportunity isn’t just in using it…

It’s in understanding it.

I thought I was heading towards slowing down.

In a world powered by AI, the real advantage won’t be age or experience — it will be the willingness to learn.
